Here’s one more Nixon and Disneyland connection. When Nixon was vice-president, his brother owned a series of restaurants named “Nixon’s” (Source1, Source2). One location was on the corner of Harbor Blvd. and Katella Ave in Anneham, immediately next to Disneyland. And just because I’m fascinated with Howard Hughes I’ll add this, he once loaned Nixon’s brother, Donald, $205,000 in 1956 to save the failing restaurants. I read his main competitor was Bob’s Big Boy. According to my research, only one Bob’s Big Boy still exists. But I may be confusing it for Big Boy. I think there may have even been a Kip’s Big Boy for a while. The only one I can recall ever seeing was on Camp Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth, across from King’s Liquor, where we stopped to buy Dad’s and Grandma’s Seagram’s 7. We lived in Palo Pinto, a dry county.
Marines aboard the USS Boxer used a new system called a MRZR LMADIS — a Light Marine Air Defense Integrated System. The system is comprised of two vehicles — one a “command node,” and the other a “sensor node.” The vehicles are outfitted with radar sensors, cameras, and radio frequency detectors and jammers. Once the crew is able to detect a threat, they use the jammer to disrupt the signals from the drone.

Another fun “this moment in history” story related to Walt Disney World – it’s where the Beatles officially died. After a lengthy period of negotiation between their lawyers following the Beatles’ breakup, the finalized contract between the four members had to be signed. Ringo signed in England, and George and Paul met with their attorneys and signed in New York (with Ringo appearing by phone), but John refused to be there, finding it all too much to handle. So his lawyer brought him the papers while he was on vacation – at WDW – and John signed them in his room at the Polynesian Village Resort. This occurred during his “Lost Weekend” and was chronicled by his then-girlfriend May Pang. There’s no official record as to which room is “the” room, but long-time cast members have a pretty good guess, based on the resort’s layout at the time and where the high-dollar suites were located.
Yes, you are right. There is really only one “Real” Bob’s Big Boy left and that is this one on Riverside Drive in Burbank California. (Los Angeles area suburb) All the other “Big Boy” restaurants don’t compare in food quality to this one. It is fun to go and eat. Many people like to sit in the Beatles booth. Where The Beatles ate during the summer of 1965. It is a large corner booth that seats more people than a regular booth. Also they have outside Car Hop service (Like Sonic drive in) and once a month they feature a classic car show. Every month they donate a percentage of their profits to charity. When you go, they give you a ballot with 3 charities and you vote on which one the money should go to. The charity with the most votes get the donation every month. The ballots have three different charities each month that you can select along with a short paragraph explaining what focus they aim to help solve. It’s well worth checking out next time you come to Los Angeles. I recommend it!
