I wish I was aware of TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar when it started at the first of the month, I would have watched a lot of movies I’ve always wanted to watch but never got around to.
It’s time for another installment of TCM’s annual tradition of 31 Days of Oscar, where we celebrate Oscar season through a series of films that have been either nominated or awarded the esteemed ranking of “best” in its respective category.
Hitchcock’s Lifeboat will be on tonight. I remember watching in some sort of history of cinematic film class in college. The film is unique in that Hitchcock staged the whole film on a single lifeboat, as a number of shipwreck survivors try to stay alive. Because of the setting, many wondered how Hitchcock would make his cameo. Well, he did it by appearing on a newspaper which was on the boat.
I’m not a teacher, but as a young supervisor many years ago, the supervisors that trained me taught me to always avoid saying, “I don’t know.” It bolsters the confidence that your employees have in you as a leader.
I would be interested in seeing the amount of property and inventory taxes that Amazon avoided paying on facilities across the country. I’m betting that’s much more detrimental to cities and local schools.
The 31 Days of Oscar on TCM is a yearly thing. I’ve recorded and watched a handful of movies so far this year including Father of the Bride and Kramer vs. Kramer last night. One thing about their schedule that you linked: the days of the week don’t match the correct date. They’re off by one day.
I’m a TCM addict. 31 Days of Oscar are prime TCM because they will slip in movies that aren’t normally in their lineup. I could go on all day about Lifeboat, but Hitchcock working from Steinbeck just can’t help but be greatness.
I have been supervising kids/adults for about 40 years. I do not mind saying “I do not know”. I will then start a conversation about how we can find the answer. I may go find the answer or someone in the group. Showing an interest in getting the answer wins more respect.
