Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, September 12, 2018

  • Every now and then I receive an email about a neighbor’s vehicle being broken into. However, nine times out of ten it’s stated the vehicle was left unlocked. I don’t know the legal or technical definition of an automobile break-in, but I tend to think the neighbor is being dramatic when they state they can’t believe such a thing can happen in a peaceful neighborhood. I’m surprised people don’t lock their vehicles anytime they step out of it. I’m reminded of the time a neighbor, about eight years ago, decided to move out of the neighborhood because someone stole a handgun out of her garage in the middle of the afternoon and she no longer felt the area was safe. I was amazed she didn’t store the gun in a safe and secure place and simply left the garage open all day with it exposed. Heck, I feel safer she’s gone.
  • Elizabeth Smart is disappointed her kidnapper is about to get out of prison five years earlier than expected. I don’t blame her.
  • I saw a local news report about how the Texas Baptist Men are mobilizing to the Southeast to help aid in any post hurricane efforts. I have some friends who help in similar ministries in different denominations and they always are jealous of the coverage the Texas Baptist Men receive over their support. I’ve never researched it, and I’m not complaining about people helping people, but I’m sure the Texas Baptist Men does a really good job of marketing themselves or reaching out to the local media.
  • It wasn’t until yesterday I realized that the actor who plays Howard Hamlin in ‘Better Call Saul’ is the same man who plays Professor Laskey in ‘Saved By The Bell: The College Years’.
  • Beto O’Rourke was on ‘Ellen’ last week and tonight he’ll be on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’. Back in June, Senator Ted Cruz played basketball against Jimmy Kimmel. The only way I think Ted Cruz loses this election is if Obama campaigns for him.
  • I just can’t dogear a book, I feel like I’m disrespecting it. Magazines, on the other hand, they are free game.
  • Texas board revokes license for ‘Drive Thru Doc’
  • I only have bits and pieces of the story, but WifeGeeding’s father wrote Queen Elizabeth a letter. It may have included or referenced an article he found in an old magazine which referenced her wedding and tugged on his heart. A Lady-in-Waiting was kind enough to reply.
  • This kid thought the pastor was taking too long so he baptized himself.

    I’m confused.

“The only way I think Ted Cruz loses this election is if Obama campaigns for him.”

Did you mean if Obama campaigns for Beto….or

Did you mean if Obama campaigns for Cruz….or

Did you mean to type Trump instead of Obama?

    • Geeding says:

Anything Obama is for, Cruz supporters are automatically against (I’m painting with a pretty wide brush here). So, if Obama says, “Vote Cruz,” they won’t vote for Cruz.

      • df of ll says:

Not to mention crossing party lines, since the BIG O is a Dem and Cruz is a Rep.

Just for fun, ask Lady G if she ever went to George’s in Waco.

Elizabeth Smart’s kidnapper was in federal prison in Fort Worth before being turned over to Utah.

I still can’t decide what to make of Beto O’Rourke. I never thought Cruz would ever be in any real danger, but Ted is running the type of campaign that Dewherst did when he lost – out of touch, unlikable, no charismatic appeal. I see a lot of contention on Facebook about Beto being all sizzle and no spice with all of the people throwing his signs up in their yard having no clue where he stands on anything. If he pulls off the upset, it will be interesting to see how the Democrats in Texas respond. The Democratic party in Texas hasn’t put up a serious nominee for governor since Ann Richards lost in ’94.

Beto has literally put in the sweat to get where he is. He’s visited every county in the state. He encourages those who oppose him to town halls, listens to uncensored questions and gives logical answers. Has run a positive campaign with no PAC or corporate money. He’s proven he can work with Republicans. He’s a likable guy. A native Texan. Somebody tell me whats not to like about the guy?
