  • Here’s the story behind that photo. The photographer didn’t release it for a while because she was afraid it would offend people who may have misinterpreted it. I related to it because I had a manager at the time who “encouraged” us to keep working and meet our deadlines. It made me think of what places continued to operate in NYC when all that was going on.
  • When the Secretary of State travels to another country, does he or she always have armed security around? I read that Mike Pompeo has visited North Korea four times, but wondered how having armed security around him in another country, especially one like North Korea, works out.
  • Jason Witten used to have a weekly radio show with BaD Radio on THE TICKET and he was dryer than WifeGeeding’s baked chicken. Witten has been replaced by Sean Lee, who I expected to also be really vanilla, but he was relaxed and jovial than I expected.
  • Chris Suellentrop of Politico read all 20 of Bob Woodward’s books in a month’s time and ranked them.
  • Re-Invented Belt – The flap is hidden by going behind the belt.
  • As horrible as 9/11/2001 was, at least it united us as a country and are now more united than we ever were before.
  • I never heard of the term “navel gazing” until last night’s ‘Better Call Saul’. I loved how last night’s show ended, btw.
  • DogGeedingII (not the new pup, OtherDogGeedingII) found a bunny nest in our backyard. We didn’t disturb the bunnies, but we think there are three of them. All of them are about half the size of a Twinkie. We may or may not have left a little bit of BunnyGeeding’s food nearby.

  • This tweet seems like something the great Gary Larson would have come up with.

Keith, Keith, Keith. Dryer than her baked chicken? Be Careful. WifeGeeding will put the Evil Eye on you.

I enjoyed last night’s BCS. Did you notice the director? Andrew Stanton, who is best known for his work with Pixar as a writer (all the Toy Story movies, Wall-E, Finding Dory) and director (Wall-E, Finding Nemo). I thought the visual style was interesting last night – especially the end sequence with the “pinatas.”

Did you watch the new Jim Carrey show on Showtime? I watched the pilot Sunday and I think it has potential.

Why weren’t belts originally designed with the flap hidden? It makes so much sense!

I would contend that WifeGeeding need not take offense because all baked chicken is dry. That’s why we always tend to have to trick it up with a sauce to make it tolerable.

I was serving on a criminal trial jury on 9/11/2001. Day 1 was on Monday, court was cancelled on Tuesday, and the trial wrapped on Wednesday the 12th after a much delayed start due to a bomb threat in downtown Fort Worth and the members of the jury scattering in the day and age before everyone carried cell phones (I had only had one that I actually carried and used for less than a year). The whole experience was bizarrely surreal. Looking out the windows from our jury holding room in the upper floors of the building with the only aircraft in the sky being fighter jets flying in and out of the base on the west side of Fort Worth was weird. I also had the odd moment of having a homeless guy approach me while I was eating lunch on the 12th and ask me if it was too soon to tell a joke about what was happening.

I know the predecessor to the post-9/11 unity was the tumultuous 2000 election and I’ve often wondered in the last few years if the terror attacks just delayed the awful disunity we have now.

Cooking Tip: Beer Can Chicken (you could sub water for beer). Moist and tender every time.
