  • At school yesterday, BoyGeeding fell and knocked his front tooth out on a classmate’s desk. He said he didn’t cry. I would have cried. However, the front tooth next to it is really loose and he cried over that before bedtime because he doesn’t want to lose that one yet.

    • Total Bill: $164,941 for a four-day hospital stay, including $42,944 for four stents and $10,920 for room charges. Calver’s insurer paid $55,840. The hospital billed Calver for the unpaid balance of $108,951.31.

  • WFAA – Texas hero helps save 94-year-old wrong-way driver, and it’s all on video
    • I’m not sure if WFAA is responsible, but the video ends with the following.

That kind of stuff bugs me, it implies helping or saving people is an exclusive trait of Texans. I hear the same thing when something happens in Boston or New York, how they have a certain determination or grit unique to just them. I like to think that as humans, despite geography, we do what we can to help one another. Maybe I’m a bit too naive or inspired by a Ronald Reagan quote which is engraved on his final resting place, “I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there’s purpose and worth to each and every life.”

  • Netflix releases mesmerizing trailer for Orson Welles’ final film
    • Cinema’s storied history is littered with projects that remain unfinished in various states. One such movie is (or at least, was) The Other Side of the Wind from the legendary Citizen Kane director Orson Welles. Netflix picked up the rights last year, and with the movie set to be released almost 50 years after production started on it, the captivating first trailer has arrived.
  • ‘Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D’ is coming to IMAX theaters
    • On what would have been Michael Jackson’s 60th birthday, IMAX announced that it’s remastering Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D for a limited run in its theaters. IMAX will show the iconic 1983 music video in 3D for one week starting September 21st, before screenings of the new movie The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

    • Many of the lakes in Utah are excellent places to fish, but you can’t get to them with a truck or a car. The Uinta Mountains alone have more than 650 fishable lakes. The best way to stock many of these valuable fisheries—and sometimes the only way to stock them—is from the air…

After the cords are removed they grind the tires into powder and mix it in asphalt. Did a bunch of testing with it around Lubbock in the 90’s. Helps with the cold weather damage to the pavement and it’s a way to get rid of old tires. Win/win.

The Orson Welles flick looks really interesting from a historical POV, but I have a feeling it’s not very good. Arthouse films from that era are really hard to understand unless you are on some psychedelic trip.

  2. Nome Importa says:

To keep the people pleasing vulnerability at bay, we all need something in which our go-to response is TLJ’s “I don’t care!” Unless it’s an area dealing with a spouse, of course. They aren’t people. 🙂

  3. Bizarro Big Tex says:

I have always liked the quote on the Reagan interment memorial. Also really enjoy the oath taken by the fictional Doc Savage, Man of Bronze. For those who have trouble with Google, it is printed below. I think you will find it ageless words to live by.

“Let me strive every moment of my life to make myself better and better, to the best of my ability, that all may profit by it. Let me think of the right and lend all my assistance to those who need it, with no regard for anything but justice. Let me take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage. Let me be considerate of my country, of my fellow citizens and my associates in everything I say and do. Let me do right to all, and wrong no man.”

You shouldn’t care about proofreading. It’s a blog for entertainment purposes. I felt guilty about giving you a hard time about a typo last week, but I only did it because it was so accidentally funny.

    • Kathy says:

But yesterday’s blog had a sentence about Jerry Jones that just didn’t make sense at all. When lack of proofreading causes lack of understanding and impedes the flow of the reading, it’s a problem. If it only happened once, so be it, but it happens too often in BON.

      • Buford says:

That sentence makes sense, you’re being hyperbolic. Its not written well but there’s enough context that the reader can makes sense of it. Perhaps you’re focus on proper writing is too much of a distraction for you to make sense of it.

And yes, I intentionally made mistakes above to see if it would distract you.

      • Bryan B. says:

Seriously? I figured out what he was trying to say to the point that I commented on it. Like I said, it’s a blog for entertainment purposes. If it bothers you that much, perhaps you should change the channel. Proof positive that some people want to be unhappy so bad that they’ll seek out things that bother them.
