  • That’s such a fascinating photo, it almost looks like something Norman Rockwell would have painted. Trump supporters would love it because it shows defiance. Trump detractors love it because it shows defiance. If I were a Rockwell, I’d name it “American Exceptionalism”.
  • We might be in the market for a new SUV since our current one won’t pass inspection because of a check engine light which will cost about $2,500 to fix. The power steering also needs to be repaired and that will cost over a grand as well. We’ve enjoyed our 2009 Acadia as our second vehicle which is close to 160,000 miles. We only drive it about twice a week and when WifeGeeding visits her family in East Texas since our Nissan Leaf can’t make it there on a full charge. Sure, it would be nice to buy a new vehicle or something used with a lot of bells and whistles, but we can’t justify that kind of spending for something we only use sparingly.
  • I can’t recall the last time I saw a U.S. Post Office employee deliver the mail in a uniform. Today, I only see them in casual civilian attire. When I was a kid, the mail was delivered in a Jeep, which I thought was cool.
  • In other Jeep related history, I had no idea the white star was designed to change colors – How Special Paint On The Hood Of The World War II Jeep Protected Soldiers’ Lives
  • An under-rated feeling is going outside on a hot day and your body quickly adapting to the temperature. You know, when you first go outside and are shocked how hot it is and immediately start sweating, but then your body adjusts and you realize it’s not all that bad outside.
  • Joe Buck interviewed Michael Irvin and asked what I thought was a good question for anyone, “When it comes to your life, would you rather have a pause button or a rewind button?”
  • Other than traveling to neighboring China and South Korea, I really never thought Kim Jong-un would travel outside his country. Well, tells ya what I know.
  • Meet the guys who tape Trump’s papers back together
    • Armed with rolls of clear Scotch tape, Lartey and his colleagues would sift through large piles of shredded paper and put them back together, he said, “like a jigsaw puzzle.” Sometimes the papers would just be split down the middle, but other times they would be torn into pieces so small they looked like confetti. It was a painstaking process that was the result of a clash between legal requirements to preserve White House records and President Donald Trump’s odd and enduring habit of ripping up papers when he’s done with them — what some people described as his unofficial “filing system.”
  • If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought the Triple Crown-winning horse and jokey were sponsored by China. When I see yellow stars on a red background, China is the first thing I think of.

What error codes is your Acadia giving? Depending on what it is you might be able to fix it for a lot less than $2500.

You can buy a very nice USED vehicle. I have never owned a new car (by choice). Toyota, Honda and Nissan will not disappoint.

That was a cool link about the US painted stars on D-Day. I saw that on facebook last week and shared with some friends. I thought I new a ton about the Normandy invasion, even that US troops wore “Gas brassard” on their sleeves with the same materials that changed colors when exposed to poison gas. But learned something new with that link!

By the way, a fantastic book for anyone interested a deep, DEEP dive into the planning for the first waves of US troops on Omaha and Utah… https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1211652.Spearheading_D_Day_American_Special_Units_6_June_1944

    RE: USPS unis

In Denton, the USPS folks wear the uniforms.

What you may have in your neighborhood is a contractor that works for the USPS.

I know pictures can only capture a moment in time, but Bolton looks almost mirthful at the stalemate to my jaundiced eye. Good luck on the SUV choice. Used is always a good value, unless some new features are important to you. The extended family drives Nissan Armada, GMC Yukon, Ford Double Cab Pickup, and Ford Expedition as their group haulers. All are happy with their choices. If you buy used, just be sure to research, research, research. And make a local mechanic your new family friend to sleep better at night.

If someone doesn’t use photoshop to replace Trump’s and Bolton’s heads with Statler and Waldorf, there’s no real justice in the world.
