  • Wholesome presidential ribbing, I love it. On Twitter, nonetheless.
  • I really don’t use the word “nonetheless” in verbal communication.
  • I always thought those paintings of presidents of the same political party playing poker were hokey, but they have been updated with both Obama and Trump. Each, though, has a distinctive woman in the background. Per the artist (an independent-minded Midwesterner who’s a fan of both Reagan and Bill Clinton):
    • “That will be the first Republican female president and the first Democratic female president,” he explained. “As I was doing the painting, I was thinking that these guys are kind of intimidating in a way. That’s the kind of woman that will be our first woman president; she’ll walk right up to that table.”
  • College kids can’t stand U2. U2 is played a lot going from and to commercial breaks during coverage of the NCAA men’s tournament. I love it that this annoys the college-aged crowd.
  • I got lured into the Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech game, it was dang good. Tech is a fun team to watch.
  • I’ve had a bum knee for the last five years or so and have simply tolerated it. You can hear a grinding sound as it bends and there’s an especially sharp pain when I walk down stairs. Sometimes it will simply buckle, but not all that often. Since I’m over my deductible, I decided to get it checked out and see a knee doctor. The x-rays show my bones are good, but I might have a torn ligament and will have an MRI tomorrow. But before the MRI, I’m going to have a sonogram of my kidneys performed. I’m not trying to sound whiney or seek any sympathy because I don’t feel down about any of this. If anything, I’m glad I’m getting things addressed, a lot of which I’ve simply put off.
  • An hour before my kidney sonogram, I have to drink 32 ounces of water.
  • This day planner has perforated corners so you always turn to the current date.

I am in the same boat as you. Just had back surgery and have made all my deductibles. I am getting everything fixed this year!

I don’t usually root against the Big 12, but as an Oklahoma State alum, I was rooting HARD for SFA.

Kyle Keller had been an assistant coach at OSU under Eddie Sutton for 2 years when the team was returning from a game at Colorado. Keller was in charge of the game plan for the next game, so Coach Sutton had Keller switch seats and planes with Keller’s cousin, walk-on player Nate Fleming. 40 miles east of Denver the plane carrying Fleming and 9 others crashed, killing all on board, including players Fleming and Daniel Lawson, members of the media crew including long time Cowboys announcer Bill Teegins, members of the coaching staff and both pilots.

Keller is now the head coach at SFA. He’s talked openly about the tragedy and his survivor’s guilt. I root super hard for his success.

You absolutely should get everything checked out while it’s affordable. The alternative is put it off, be a man/gut it out and then have it become a big problem sometime in the future when it’s not affordable and screws up your schedule/plans. This is coming from someone that usually does the latter and regrets it. Don’t get me started about my feet.

Best therapy on a bum knee or ankle? Swimming Pool. Swim every day. Weight is off the offending joint and you can work it out freely. Talk to your tax guy about a deduction. I never did, but there has to be a way to write it off. Has to be.
