A WifeGeeding Bag of Randomness

  • Overall, Keith has been recovering well, but yesterday was a bit of a setback.
  • He’s a bit frustrated how he feels loopy and out of focus all the time due to the painkillers. He’d like to stimulate his mind or get engaged in a book or a Netflix series, but he’ll quickly lose track of what’s going on or will fall asleep.
  • He’s more comfortable laying on his side than his back.
  • He now refers to his walker as Herschel and I’ll catch him having conversations with him, most peaceful. He refers to his back brace as a corset and keeps teasing me about him getting a set of Boudoir photos with it as a gift for Valentine’s day.
  • I love my man and all, but he annoyingly will leave cabinet doors open and not put the toilet seat down.  GRRR!
  • It’s a bit sad to hear about the Toys/Babies r Us store closings. When pregnant with DaughterGeeding, the employees were a wealth of information on products and answering questions. It was much better speaking to them and comparing products in person that relying on some product page or online review.
  • One way being married to Keith has changed me is to look at things from different perspectives.
  • On the way to school in the mornings, DaughterGeeding provides live weather reports and BoyGeeding will provide the traffic.
  • I’m thinking about dying my hair all grey, Keith is encouraging me.
  • The Texas town of Italy has been in the news. About half the reporters will correctly pronounce it correctly – Italy (/ˈɪtli/ IT-lee, unlike the country Italy).
  • A few of my coworkers have provided meals for us this week which has been very helpful.
  • Keith gave me an Instant Pot for Christmas.  To be honest, I wasn’t too crazy about the gift when I opened it.  I thought, “Great.  Now I have to cook.”  Now, I really like it and am enjoying trying new things.
  • Keith helps out with household chores like laundry and cleaning our bathroom.
  • I highly recommend watching Black Mirror on Netflix.
  • I graduated with 135 in my class.  My nephew who attends the same high school has 294 in his class.
  • Having lost both of his parents, Keith knows how important it is for me to spend with my family.
  • The Amazing Race os one of my favorite TV shows.

So when he recovers, will he trade the walker for a bunch of draft picks?

Herschel the walker – HA! Thanks for keeping us updated, WifeGeeding. I too, get frustrated when people don’t shut cabinet doors, but my biggest frustration is when they don’t throw away their trash. If you take the seal off a new food container, THROW IT AWAY, don’t leave it on the counter, etc. Although, in the grand scheme of things, that is a very small frustration.
I would disagree with the toilet seat though. My feeling is, when you arrive at the toilet, the seat may be in the wrong position for your intended use (man or woman). Then you put it in the right position for your use. I may one day change my habit to putting the lid down before flushing. Then anyone who needs the toilet after me will have to lift something up.
Also, I don’t think Keith “helps out” with chores. As someone who lives in the house, he has a responsibility for some of the chores. He works, you work, neither of you are a full-time maid. That’s my humble two cents.
Wishing Keith a quick recovery. 🙂

Glad to hear Keith is continuing to progress, it’s great getting to know you better and learning WifeGeedings’sperspective.

If you decide to dye your hair, please post a picture. I’ve been considering going gray/silver for a while, but with naturally dark hair I’m worried about everything that could go wrong. I’d love to see someone else with the courage to do it.

  5. barry says:

Yeah, if there aren’t pics posted, the gray hair didn’t happen!
Here’s to smooth sailing after the setback day.

  6. RPM says:

There were 37 people in my class. It was the largest in school history.

  7. Mr. Mike Honcho says:

Glad you are taking care of Keith, it sounds like you are doing a great job!

Put me in the disagree column re: toilet seats. In our house who ever goes to use the restroom is responsible for putting the lid in the proper spot. Mrs. Honcho and I both find it crazy that that there would ever be any other way.

  8. Former Neighbor Payne says:

Nice work, WifeGeeding! You should be a guest blogger more often!

  9. Chris says:

Love your updates. Keith is going to have some competition when he comes back.

Good to hear Hubby Gedding is on the mend. Sleep is indeed medicine when it comes to recovering from surgery. He needs to sleep every opportunity he gets. It’s a wonderful learning situation for the Little Geddings. They get to see that sometimes even adults need the help of family and even though they’re Little Geddings they to can be a positive part of the process and help in the mending of Papa Gedding.

I went full silver a few years ago. I have very long curly hair that was about 10% grey and 90% VERY dark brown/nearly black. I’ve a pinky fair “winter” complexion. Think Liz Taylor colouring so silver is good for me. My hair is closer to Hispanic hair than it is Caucasian sooooo I went to a Hispanic colourist because I knew he’d have vastly more experience with my type of hair than a non-Hispanic colourist. He used a colouring cap which is old school and it turned out really well. This is a video of the same process and results but not of me. IF you’re even the least bit sallow you may want to rethink all over silver/grey and go more a balayage with a warm lighest blonde. I’m not a hair pro but I did a LOT of research before I let anyone mess with my mid-butt length “crazy cat lady” hair.

It maybe a dumb observation, but if Keith keeps taking medication, how does he know the pain stills exist? That’s just me, scared of addiction. After I had surgery I was given a 30 day supply of oxicontin, I waited for terrible pain, it never came.

  12. MToots says:

I agree with Alec66…Maybe it’s time to wean off pain meds. He’s tough! Maybe he needs to wait for pain to see if he can tolerate it. I know…..I’m not the one who’s hurting.
Grey hair?? Better consult with Mark before you do anything drastic!

  13. Suzi says:

Thanks for your contributions, WifeGeeding – to the blog and to Keith’s life. Best wishes for a speedy and pain-free recovery.

  14. Darren says:

Herschel Walker…lol! Thanks for the updates WifeGeeding. I hate hearing that Keith is full of “Aikman” but once his spine is healed, he’ll have a “Staubach and be able to “Romo” the house!” Sorry for being a smart “Elliott”! Glad I’m not “Irvin” a living making these puns!
