They are having various camps this month and when she arrived to work on Thursday the parking lot had a couple of police cars and an armored SWAT vehicle. It turns out the city decided to hold a training exercise but didn’t inform anyone at the church. There is no telling the level of concern many parents had as they arrived to drop off their children.

- Somehow while researching something else I landed on a transcript of a Reagan/Mondale debate. The question of being “born again” was brought up to the candidates. This is how they responded:
- Reagan: Well, I was raised to have a faith and a belief and have been a member of a church since I was a small boy. In our particular church, we did not use that term, “born again,” so I don’t know whether I would fit that — that particular term. But I have — thanks to my mother, God rest her soul — the firmest possible belief and faith in God.

Mondale: I am a son of a Methodist minister. My wife is the daughter of a Presbyterian minister. And I don’t know if I’ve been born again, but I know I was born into a Christian family. And I believe I have sung at more weddings and more funerals than anybody ever to seek the Presidency. Whether that helps or not, I don’t know. I have a deep religious faith. Our family does. It is fundamental. It’s probably the reason that I’m in politics. I think our faith tells us, instructs us, about the moral life that we should lead. And I think we’re all together on that.
- One thing which really stood out and something I recall watching as a child was President Reagan’s answer on why he doesn’t attend church regularly as president. In short, he said he didn’t want to endanger people because he’s a constant target. I thought it was a fantastic answer and I remember the applause he received. But this time when I reviewed his answer, I noticed he didn’t entirely answer the question, which is posted below. He didn’t answer the part about why he doesn’t invite a minister over like Nixon and Carter used to do. I’m not judging Reagan here, but what I learned from this is that you don’t always have to fully answer a question to get the response you want.
Technically, Aldi doesn't charge you 25 cents to use a shopping cart. You get the quarter back once the cart is returned. Safety deposit? I enjoy the blog daily, thanks!

Yes, you are correct! Todays country music scene is nothing to write home about. Interesting on the U2 influence though.
My job has fingers in the Grocery industry. I am truly surprised more businesses do not follow the Aldi model. Carts are EXPENSIVE and paying 'baggers' to gather them from the parking lot is expensive. This simple approach means that the majority of the carts make it back to the store front with no expenditures from the store. Brilliant…and it definitely contributes to their lower prices. Yes, a quarter is not much, but looking in their lot proves that this little investment incents users to return their cart and get their quarter.
Also, my wife tells me that the 'pay it forward' movement can be found here. A number of times she has found a cart 'returned', but with the quarter still in it. Apparently some people have pity on quarter-less people like you and are willing to invest in your being able to use their quarter.
