  • DaughterGeeding’s escape room/detective party went well, though it took a lot of effort to put together, which is code for me regrettably being short-tempered with WifeGeeding planning and setting things up. In the picture above, I think she looks like a little brunette Agent Scully. You know, for the longest time, I said if I ever had a daughter, I’d want to name her after the character. Dana Katherine Geeding had a nice ring to it.
    • As her friends arrived, they had to place their hands on the “scanner”. The stuff in the middle is nothing more than hair gel, soap, and a few other household items in a ziplock bag.
    • BoyGeeding then used his toy lightsaber as a security scanner. Since it lit up and made a few noises it somewhat added to the “realism”.
    • “Agents” were then fingerprinted and had to pass a background check. Most of the questions were asking if they ever told a lie, could be trusted, must stuff of that nature. Huh, now as I’m writing this, I’m surprised I didn’t make one quip about how this is the future of Trump’s America or anything.
    • Agent DaughterGeeding then had to teach each new “agent” the secret handshake.
    • As each new “agent” arrived, it was up to me to hide each present they brought in a select location along with a clue. Each clue led to a present, which DaughterGeeding opened and thanked her guest for, and then it was time to open the next clue and find the next present. One clue led to BunnyGeeding’s cage, another led to look inside the ottoman, to the dryer, and so on. The whole house was used, and the “agents” had to go up and down the stairs several times. Each clue had a limerick and some sort of challenge. One limerick instructed the “agents” to look at the backward-written message with a mirror, another was a secret code device, another was hidden inside one of about 30 balloons they had to pop, and another was hidden inside one of DaughterGeeding’s favorite books. For the one in the book, she had to turn to a certain page, place a special sheet of paper over it, and then make out a word from the letters the sheet of paper displayed.

    • OtherDogGeeding guarded the cake the whole time.
    • Party favors included a disguise, magnifying glass, and a few other things.
  • I’m about six or seven episodes into the new season of Netflix’s ‘House of Cards’. It doesn’t really deliver like it did those first three seasons, but hey, I’m still entertained. I’m surprised nothing this season has made me think of what’s going on in real-life politics.
  • U2 played in Chicago this weekend. When they played there about 30 years ago, they made a mafia type video. And yes, the acting was bad.
  • In a way, it’s like a “famous last words” –
  • Wonder Woman has come a long way since this failed 1967 screen test
  • I thought this was a good example of integrity. On last night’s “Last Week Tonight” (say that three times fast), Jonn Oliver spoke of the latest terror attack in London and how showed a clip of a man being interviewed. The man was in a restaurant in the same area of the attack and many patrons fled the scene. He returned the next morning to pay his bill and to tip the wait staff.
  • We checked out the new Seconds and Surplus down the road. I thought that fancy looking sink looked more like a urinal for NBA players.
  • If this photo is real, it’s phenomenal.

That sounds like so much work! Good job! I don't think I could do it. My baby's first birthday is at the end of the month and I think I'm just going to have a "come over and hang out" party and have someone bring cake. The end. No themes, no crafts, no homemade pintrest decorations. He still doesn't sleep through the night so AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT, mama is TIRED.

Awesome job on the birthday party – very inventive and fun memories for all involved. And, the photo of the downburst rain storm is absolutely real – there's also a video of it on Steve Noviello's FB page – <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2 Fwww.facebook.com%2FSaveMeSteve%2Fvideos%2F1588314331202918%2F&show_text=1&width=560" width="560" height="465" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
