  • I received my new Google Pixel phone yesterday. During setup, it required me to be on Wi-Fi, but then it wouldn’t reconnect and did about a gigabyte worth of updates via data. I know my Wi-Fi or internet connection was still working because I was on my Chromebook. Thankfully, they have some great customer service – there was no phone tree, I didn’t even have to press 1 for English. It rang twice and a human answered.

  • Where will you find an experienced, reliable Santa Claus? LinkedIn of course
  • Since Charlie Gibson left the anchor desk, I’ve felt the ABC News telecast has shifted tabloid. On Tuesday, instead of leading with Trump’s selection of Tillerman as his Secretary of State, they chose to lead with Trump’s meeting with Kanye. It’s like Peter Jennings was never there.
  • 25 total pics – Austin mansion that was home to UT football coach Charlie Strong on the sales block – The five-bedroom, 7.5-bath Mediterranean-style estate is privately listed for $4.995 million.
  • Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh recently visited some recruits in Aledo.
  • I’m reminded of Meatloaf’s character, Bob, in Fight Club Men To Sue Over Drug That Made Them Grow Breasts
  • Interesting old ’60 Minutes’ segment
    • 60 Minutes was there when a Japanese naval crew toured the site, taking the standard sightseeing tour of Pearl Harbor. They listened as the tour guide explained the 19 direct Japanese hits against U.S. battleships, the specially adapted pins on the Japanese torpedoes, and the 2,000-pound bomb that sank the USS Arizona.
  • I try not to think, so I guess that’s why I don’t run – Running as the Thinking Person’s Sport
    • The study, published this month in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, found that the brains of competitive distance runners had different connections in areas known to aid in sophisticated cognition than the brains of healthy but sedentary people. The discovery suggests that there is more to running than mindlessly placing one foot in front of another.
  • Since October, 99 Dallas cops have quit or retired. Chief Brown time that exit well. While in Fort Worth – Star Wars stormtrooper keeps misfiring in FWPD recruitment video

  1. Triple Fake says:

The FWPD video is funny because it points out the famously poor shooting skills of bad guys in every action movie ever made.
But he's not misfiring. He's firing and missing. Big difference!

  2. Ben W. says:

Wonder how Lucasfilm/Disney feels about this type of IP appropriation? Clearly it wasn't licensed (no licensing/copyright notice, awful effects, etc.). While I'm certain Disney supports law enforcement, I'm not sure they want one of their IP brands associated with the message "Are you good with a gun? Come be a cop!"
