Anytime I hear a sequel to a movie that ends with “Two” in the title, I always add “Electric Boogaloo” to it: Die Hard 2 – Electric Boogaloo, Toy Story 2 – Electric Boogaloo, Lethal Weapon 2 – Electric Boogaloo, Pitch Perfect 2 – Electric Boogaloo
ESPN ‘Outside the Lines’ continues to track Baylor since local media won’t do it – Police records detail several more violence allegations against Baylor football players – According to the police documents, at least some Baylor officials, including coaches, knew about many of the incidents, and most players did not miss playing time for disciplinary reasons. None of the incidents has been widely reported in the media.
USA Today‘s Dan Wolken had a strong statement, “And it’s hard to imagine that apologies and procedural changes will be enough to answer for what now appears to be a full-blown, systemic scandal within the culture of Baylor football.“
Yes, I’m not a fan of the institution, but news like this saddens me. Violence experienced by these young adults, especially of the sexual nature, is nothing to root or cheer or joke about.
Chinese couple spend wedding night copying Communist constitution – Newlyweds transcribed 17,000-word text as part of a national campaign designed to raise awareness of the party’s rules – In case you were wondering the length of their constitution compared to others – The longest written constitution is India’s with 117,369 words in its English-language translation, while the United States Constitution is the shortest with a total of 4,400 words.
That David Letterman Tumblr site I mentioned yesterday now has interviewed Anton Fig, roughly a year after the final show.
Google Patented a Sticky Car Hood That Traps Pedestrians Like Flies – Google was awarded a patent that proposes placing a strong adhesive on the hood of its autonomous cars. This way, pedestrians or cyclists who happen to find themselves being struck by a Googlemobile would be protected from what’s called “secondary impact.”
You already know about my mixed feelings toward Baylor. Recent events have made it harder and harder to remain a fan. Baylor is far from the only university where domestic violence and sexual assault occur, but it's really disappointing to see how poorly the leadership has handled these incidents. My work lanyard and water cups all bear (oops) the Baylor logo, but I'm thinking about replacing them so I'm no longer advertising my connection with the school. Ugh.
– People seem to think that using computer models can somehow be more objective, but the algorithms are designed by people and reflect their biases. Nate Silver is fooling himself if he thinks he's any different. Then there's the whole garbage-in, garbage-out problem of using polling data.
– I can't wait for more Star Trek, but I'm not sure I'm willing to subscribe to CBS' streaming service to watch it.
– I'll be looking forward to Bag of Randomness, June 2: Electric Boogaloo.
I do the Electric Boogaloo thing too (Electric Boogaloo)
There was a really cool documentary on Netflix: Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. Not sure if it's still there since fun things are blocked at work, but if it is, check it out.
