BON, this comment is dated, but I was finally able to watch the Football Life episode featuring Roger Staubach. Like many, he was one of my heroes as a kid. An English assignment in 4th grade (1973-4) was to write to someone "famous," and I wrote to Roger the Dodger. I received a 5 x 7 (I believe) autographed black and white picture in return (which, unfortunately, has been lost). [As a 4th grader, I thought Roger and me were friends at that point, so I sent another letter!]
Anyway, one of my disappointments with the episode was the treatment of Clint Longley. It seems to me that one of the greatest examples of a Christian's faith is to extend redemption to the outsiders, the marginalized, the poor, the broken, the one of the 99. Metaphorically, in the game of football, I think Longley qualifies. His entire football career — and because that career was so public, it couldn't help but extend to his life in general — is about suckerpunching Staubach.
I would so hate for my life to be reduced to one bad moment where I've done whatever I've done. If it were on the verge of being so reduced, I think Jesus would redeem that definition and give me a new way to define my life. Sadly, the Staubach episode provides Longley no such redemption. It paints Staubach as a "hero" for physically beating up on Longley the day before and Longley as the goat for the suckerpunch that came a day later. Given that the episode is steeped in Staubach's Christianity, this small segment is the one that sticks out for me and taints the whole thing.
    Just some thoughts.

I know a guy in Graham that has an L-shaped bartop covered in new pennies under epoxy in his mancave. It's very cool to look at. But his aren't in a pattern like that, they're all facing the same way. Forget how many pennies he used.

A link on the drone airport story led to a new smart rocket weapon system for the Hurst built Bell V-22 Osprey. Very cool taking old ordinance we have a ton of lying around and turning it into state of the art laser guided weapons for cheap. We need a lot more of that in the military.

FYI…Zulily.com has American Girl Doll deals today….$99 for a doll and an outfit, guaranteed Christmas delivery. I've never seen any type of sale on American Girl items. My daughter is in college and we still have her American Girl dolls. Expensive but great quality and your daughter will LOVE it!
