Bag of Randomness

  • Thanks to my ear/nose/throat/allergy doctor I’m on my forth round of antibiotics, albeit this one is in a different family of drugs.  I’m also scheduled to have a CT scan this week, that’s a first for me.  Yup, I’m frustrated being sick for so long and the pressure in my head and ears is annoying, but I’m trying to be grounded as I certainly am better off than a lot of other folks.
  • It’s hard to hear as of late, everything is muffled, and I keep hoping on gigantic yawn will pop my ears and all will be normal again.
  • During my exam, the doctor actually wore one of those round mirror things on his head.  For a second, I thought I was dreaming and was in the middle of an episode of “Mad Men” but I didn’t see Joan anywhere.
  • I was told by the doctor that even though they aren’t swollen, I have huge tonsils and that I must snore a lot.  It’s a good thing WifeGeeding is a heavy sleeper.
  • I traveled to East Texas over the weekend to spend what was my tenth Christmas with my in-laws.  My first Christmas with them was when I was still in fiance status.  On my way home Saturday evening I exited from SH 80 to 635 and was amazed at the Town East Mall traffic.  I’ve seen packed mall parking lots before, but I’ve never seen the kind of traffic jam that extended to the highway from people just trying to get to the mall.  Heck, I thought there was an accident on 635, but it was just people trying to get to the mall exit.
  • I’m now into season four of “Breaking Bad”.  When you watch a series on Netflix and finish an episode, there’s a countdown of when the next episode that will start streaming and it’s hard to pull away from.
  • AMC has something quite interesting going with the lead male and females in both “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.”  Neither Don or Walt are good guys, but they are both great at what they do and you end up kind of rooting for them despite all their prolific lies, and both Betty and Skylar both cheat on their spouses and viewers tend to find them annoying or crazy.  I guess you can even break it down even further with the similarities with their first born children, Walt Jr and Sally, and how they are a bit rebellious and outspoken.
  • Before our little meet and great during our church service, the music director stated something to the effect that we need to take Christmas back from the merchants and that we should go ahead and now great one another by saying “Merry Christmas” and not “Happy Holidays.”  I didn’t think we needed to be reminded about the War on Christmas at church.

  • For a scientist, Neil DeGrasse Tyson has some impressive dance skills.  YouTube
  • Star Trek Pancake Portraits
  • Here’s an interesting two minutes to watch about a man in Vietnam accepting his fate when a doctor tells him he can’t be operated on and must accept his fate.  I’ve cued the video for you so you can view the most important part.
