ESPN’s new season of “30 for 30” started up last night and the first episode was about how some professional athletes have spent way beyond their means. Fittingly, the episode was titled “Broke“.
The show interviewed some former Dallas talent such a Jamal Mashburn, Eugene “The Hitting Machine” Lockhart”, and Bernie Kosar. Yeah, Bernie might be a stretch for a Dallas sports figure, but hey, he did take over for an injured Troy Aikman in an NFC Championship game to get us to a Super Bowl.
I guess you can also include Sean Salisbury who was interviewed and now lives in the area.
Andre Rison was also part of the episode and stated he already bought a mansion in Cleveland when he signed as a free agent and then found out Art Model was moving the team to Baltimore.
Per the show, NFL players will pay taxes in certain states, states they don’t even live in, just for playing in a playoff game that’s located there.
