WifeGeeding has always been a trampoline kind of girl, so for her birthday yesterday I took her to Jumpstreet. Basically, it’s a giant indoor facility fully a very large trampolines where you can jump, play dodge ball, swing into a foam pit, ride a mechanical bull, and a few other things.
We went to the Plano location because of a Groupon but a similar facility just opened in our neighborhood. Unlike the one we attended, they offer a trampoline basketball league and trampoline boot camp. Since there’s an ACU reader out there, I’ll mention the boot camp instructor is an ACU alum.
When we first pulled up three bus loads of children from a Jewish summer camp arrived. I was concerned they would keep us from having any fun, but that place and their trampolines are so big it didn’t make a difference at all.
We’ve only used a sitter twice, and used the same sitter both times. She’s a college kid, and we attend church with her mother, who sent out an email saying her daughter was in need of funds and recommended her. Both times she was at least ten minutes late, and both times she blamed her navigation unit. As comfortable as we are with her, there may not be a third time, but when we got home she tried not to accept any money for being late, so her sincerity may have won us over.
It’s just strange for Romney’s father to set the precedent for presidential candidates in releasing tax return records and for him not to be as compliant. It doesn’t help Romney that his Republican presidential opponents calling for him to be more forthcoming.
A lot of Republicans were very pleased and encouraged national campaign co-chair John Sununu to say the following about Obama, “this president would learn how to be an American.” He later apologized for those words, but I wasn’t sure what the whole stink was about because the GOP and Tea Party folks have been doing that for at least five years now.
The country has gone so far to the left that not spending more than we collect in taxes and following the constitution is regarded as a TEA party idea.. .
I don't know the ACU alum, but I will tell you that he didn't spell Abilene right either time that he referenced it. I hope this is not a referendum on my education there.
The average Canadian may be wealthier than the average American but we lead the world in our rate of adult obesity so we must be doing something right.
I bet the markup on soda at any establishment is equally as sickening as the popcorn markup. I remember hearing at a seminar on branding that I went to one time that the markup on drinks at Starbucks can be as high as 5000%.
And that last link about movie theater popcorn is why I now prefer going to a movie right AFTER having a meal (lunch or dinner) somewhere nearby. If that's not possible I will smuggle in a $.99 bag of candy or two purchased at the grocery store next door that would otherwise cost me $4.50 each. Cargo shorts with big pockets are AWESOME for that very purpose.
