Bag of Randomness

  • The NTTA tolltag use to be a thick plastic credit card sized object that you would affix to your windshield, and then they moved to an ugly stick with a bright orange circle and back T.  But now you can get one in the form of a Dallas Cowboys star, which I think is pretty cool.
  • WifeGeeding had a friend that had one of those thick plastic credit card tolltags that was applied to the windshield with velcrow.  One day she got her car serviced and someone switched the guts of her tolltag and ran up a lot of charges, so I guess that’s one reason they went with the sticker.
  • In Peter King’s MMQB, he mentions how Gene Sterator reffed two NCAA men’s basketball games last night and capped it off by reffing an NFL playoff game.  I always thought a ref not only stayed within one sport, but was surprised to find out they do both college and pro games.  Quite fascinating, he must like being yelled at a lot, or just has a wife he want’s to get away from.
  • With the last name Geeding, I can have some fun with the initials of our son who is scheduled to arrive next month.  For instance, if I chose a name like Brett Albert, then his initials would be B.A.G. and a homage to this website.  But trust me, Franklin Albert is not a possibility.
  • Bleed Into One: The Story of Christian Rock is a Kickstarter project looking to raise funds to complete the documentary.  If you click on the link, you can watch a preview of the film, and here’s a piece about how they named the project –  yes, it a U2 reference.
  • In the Washington D.C. area, Burger King is testing out home delivery.
  • It turns out that dolphins and whales actually play with one another.
  • In case you ever wondered, the first post of the day is usually “Bag of Randomness” at 5:00 AM and then I schedule other posts randomly for the next half hour, and if I find something good later in the day, I’ll post it immediately, but usually I save material for the next day.
  • Miss America is from Wisconsin and has made a public plea for Aaron Rogers to call him.  Perhaps she would like a discount-double-check.
  • I’ve always thought the idea of going on a cruise would be horrific because I fear the ocean too much and I’m a bit claustrophobic and hate crowds.  This latest event has only convinced me even more to never go on a cruise, and I don’t care what anyone says about how relaxing and cost effective it is.
  • In case you were wondering, the ship that ran around, the Costa Concordia, is 952 ft in length.  The RMS Titanic is/was 882 ft 9 in.
  • I’ve never bought anything from Zappos.com.
  • I caught a little bit of that new “Alcatraz” show in Fox, and I think it’s got some potential.  But I can’t help but notice that Jorge Garcia is always linked to a show that showcases an island.

I imagine Aaron Rodgers is maybe regretting the "discount double-check" commercials about now.

I was reading a transcript of a radio call by port authority officials to the captain of the cruise ship. Most of the call involved officials berating him for leaving the ship, calling him a liar, and demanding that he re-board the ship until the last passenger was evacuated.

NFL play-off games are too important to be reffed by guys who are burning the candle at both ends.

Our family is planning our very first cruise for this summer. Needless to say, I'm reading ALL the news about this last incident.
