Bag of Randomness

  • I use to be really good at remember dates of special occasions, but WifeGeeding really one-upped me yesterday – it was our the ten-year-anniversary of when we first met.
  • She did a fantastic job of putting together a little scavenger hunt type of event full of items of that night ten years ago.
  • Our relationship all started because I liked this one girl and I was really stuck on that book I Kissed Dating Goodbye. In that book, from what I recall, you couldn’t go out on a date one-on-one, but group events were encouraged.  Thanks to the Mavericks, all I had to do was bring a Dr. Pepper can to the ticket office and I could purchase a group of tickets for just $8.00 each.  It was perfect for a church social, and planned about two months in advance.
  • As the date of the game approached, I started to lose interest in that girl for a variety of reasons.  But her best friend wanted to go, and her best friend asked if her roommate could attend, even though she wasn’t the type to go out late on a Thursday night because as a kindergarten teacher, she usually hit the sack around 9:00 PM.
  • That kindergarten teacher eventually became WifeGeeding.
  • Somehow we sat next to each other at the game.
  • Somehow we didn’t pay a lot of attention to the game, but walked around the AAC getting to know one another.
  • Somehow she gave me her number.
  • Somehow we went on a date the next night.
  • Somehow we decided we were dating a few days later.  She was my first girlfriend.  My first kiss came that New Years night.
  • In case you were wondering, the Mavs played the Cavs.  They won, and scored over 100 points in their victory which meant free tacos from Taco Bueno.
  • I’ll always remember that night . . . free tacos.  Mmmmm.
  • Yes, I’m one lucky man.  It’s not every night the Mavs win and  you get a free taco.
  • ToddlerGeeding is not a fan of Santa, as you can tell from above.
  • I think being a mall Santa would have to be torture.  You not only have to deal with crying germy kids, but you have to do it in a uniform in which you are probably sweating profusely – boots, gloves, hat, thick coat and pants.  I’m surprised there hasn’t been a Santa incident in which one collapse due to dehydration.
  • Sometime I just look at my daughter in bewilderment and just wonder what the future holds for her.  I hope I don’t do anything to screw up that future.
  • If 2011 has a “Word of the Year” then that word should be “protest”.  From the Occupy movement to all the protests in the Middle East, I don’t think there’s been protests around the globe like there has been before.
  • Rome is going to repave their cobble stone streets to make them more high heel friendly.
  • A Chick-fil-A employee isn’t racially sensitive.
  • George Stephanopoulos is returning to This Week.  Smart move, ABC News.  He should have never left.
