Abortion in the United States

Who are the women who obtain abortions in the United States? Why do they decide to end a pregnancy? What are their social and economic circumstances? This video was created by the Guttmacher Institute, a leading research and policy organization on sexual and reproductive health.

The information on who is having abortions is interesting, but the conclusions reached in the video are simply wrongheaded. It still doesn't get to the root of the issue, which is whether or not abortion is morally right or wrong. For instance, it says that many women who have abortions have multiple children and are concerned about caring for the kids they already have. This assumes that the child inside them is not a viable life. I would ask why they don't simply kill off one of the kids they have in order to make room for the unborn child in their womb? Of course that would be horrific and immoral. Why, then, is it any less horrific or immoral to kill the unborn child if it is a viable human life? The video fails to address such matters, so it's good information, but it fails to answer the true moral dilemma of abortion.

By the way: What's up Kieth?

I'm solid Pro-Choice and agree with the video. I think it's important to look at the person who doesn't want to care for this child – what are the issues and the kind of home that would, otherwise, be forced on this child? I wish pro-life AND pro-choice wouldn't argue eternity but, instead, work together on the logistics of real solutions – many of which are outlined in the video. Work on solutions that give women everything they need to care for themselves the whole 9 months and then help give the baby a home afterwards. (which, by the way, I'm surprised it didn't touch on adoption as a solution).

Agreed! We should let the fetus get to at least the age of consent before it decides if it wishes to die or not.
