Bag of Randomness

  • This is my second draft of Bag of Randomness.  I started the first draft yesterday morning with two long paragraphs of me pretty much venting and trying to get a point across.  However, towards evening time I realized it just sounded whiny and for today at least, I’m trying to put my best foot forward.
  • There are days in which you just feel like giving up and throwing your arms up despair and ending the day crying in the fetal position.  Then there are times, unfortunately rare for me, in which I realized just how damn lucky I am.
  • I feel I’ve had a lot of significant loss in my life, longtime readers know what I’m referring to.  But one thing is for sure, I’m damn lucky to have WifeGeeding in my life and there can’t be a better companion to go through the game of life with than her.  No, I’m not in trouble or in the dog house or anything, it’s just sometimes things just hit you right square between the eyes you just want to slap yourself for not realizing it earlier.
  • I also fail to realize how lucky I am to have the friends that I do in life.  I’ve known one in particular since my freshman year in college and continue to have a close friendship with and there is no man I know who volunteers his free time more than he does with the church and other organizations, and I’m also surprised with the amount of video game playing he can still fit in a day.  Richard, I don’t think I can be man enough to tell you this in person, but I really value having you in my life and thank God for our friendship.
  • Sometimes in conversation I confuse Bed Bath and Beyond with Bath and Body Works.
  • Liza Minnelli was on the season finale of The Apprentice last night.  There’s video tape out there that still exists of me dressing up like her and lip-syncing “New York New York”.  It was all for a grade in drama class.
  • Former Fox 4 reporter Rebecca Aguilar is suing her former employer for wrongful termination. I consider this fairly large local news and I’m surprised we can only read about it on UncleBarky.com and not in any other local news.
  • Good news, I don’t have to fly to D.C. next week.  Some people love to travel, it’s my kryptonite.
  • Of all things I slept on my knee wrong and I feel like Gregory House when I walk around as that knee is in intense pain.
  • I didn’t really get all the attention about the anniversary of John Lennon’s death, but the day after the anniversary I actually did some research and not only do I understand why it was such a big deal but I became fascinated by it.  I mainly wanted to find out about Yoko’s reaction when he was shot but didn’t really find anything.  I didn’t know this magazine cover is legendary because it was shot on the day of his death.  I didn’t know that after the shooting his killer pretty much just sat there and read The Catcher in the Rye. I was surprised to find out that there was no funeral for Lennon, and found it odd that in the movie Chapter 27 actor Mark Lindsay Chapman was cast to play Lennon when the real life killer had the name Mark David Chapman.  And I think one thing that just made me stop and reflect about everything was when I saw the cover of Yoko’s album Season of Glass after his death.  The album cover has Lennon’s blood stained glasses next to a half-filled glass of water overlooking the New York skyline.  That photo is just so deep, and I’m left wondering where are those glasses today and if they are still blood stained.  If you are interested, you can read more about the death here.
  • Hey, about about my guess about Gen David Petraeus.  Actually, Barbara Walters said something to Letterman the other night that lead me to believe it would be him.
  • How Obama Compares to Past Presidents TPM compiled Gallup’s monthly presidential approval ratings for every President’s first two years in office, dating back to Dwight Eisenhower.
  • If the Founding Fathers used Microsoft Word
  • A man decides to watch the movie Julie & Julia everyday for a year and blogs about it.
  • A prosthetic arm in form of a tentacle
  • David Hasselhoff dress as a pirate next to KITT
  • Katy Perry sings country
  • Geeky women help out a geeky young girl
  • The latest Michael Jackson video
  • Cruise ship verses mother nature
  • G R A C E

I think we all tend to be guilty of not acknowledging/appreciating/celebrating how very blessed we are.

I too confuse bed, bath, & beyond with bath and body works all the time.

That tentacle arm is creepy cool.
