Bag of Randomness

  • Two owners of Dallas professional sports team have appeared in the same season of Entourage. I’m not sure who was the better/worst actor, but it’s nice to see Dallas in the limelight.
  • Everytime I hear Diane Rehm talk on NRP my first thought is that she’s going to die after finishing her sentence, she sounds that old and frail.
  • I’ve always been a bit weary of the movie and the couple in The Blind Side.  After hearing that the central character, Michael Oher refused to appear on Oprah or attend the Academy Awards and the ESPYs because he didn’t like how the movie portrayed him as a simpleton, I think that only supports my initial feeling about the movie and the couple.  I’m thinking if Oher feels disrespected about his portrayal, then the family that took him in should try to capitalize on their fame.
  • In a recent conversation with a friend when trying to recall something, he responded, “Oh yeah, like Celine Dion, it’s all coming back to me now.”
  • Yes, that friend is gay.
  • Christina Hendricks of Mad Men does some moonlight modeling for a friend on the handmade marketplace Etsy.  Link
  • Speaking of that show, the latest episode of the best of the season.
  • The actress that play Sally Draper in Mad Men sure does look like a young Drew Barrymore.
  • I just found out that the old Mad Men set, the one set at Sterling Cooper, was auctioned off on eBay, too bad bidding ended on Sunday as some items were less than $100.
  • A line of clothing that may be beneficial for patients that undergo dialysis or like procedures.
  • St Louis Arch news that is a bit disconcerting – Almost 45 years into its reign atop the St. Louis skyline, the 630-foot monument is suffering from growing rust and decay. And nobody knows how extensive.
  • Proof I was more than a decent bowler in college.
  • How one pastor gets prepped for Sunday Morning.

Another thing that you and Micah shared. Micah loved bowling. I have a video that he did while at HSU giving a bowling instruction speech. Did you know he was a state champ one year when we lived in Alabama? Micah and JJ both were really great at bowling. Kiss baby Micah for me.

I was going to mention the Cuban gig to you, but I was afraid you might have it tivoed and didn't want to ruin it for you. Did you realize he was that tall? Or is Ari just tht short?

Diane Rehm suffers from a disease called spasmodic dysphonia, which affects her vocal chords. On one of her shows she explained the various treatments she has received over the years to improve her voice to the point she can speak. I think she still receives periodic treatment. She is still an attractive woman from the pictures I have seen of her.

Yes, I agree, I can't listen to Diane Rehm, partly because her wavery voice annoys me, partly because her guests and her politics are often idiotic. Only in public radio could such an impaired radio host survive.
