  • I think the next debate for Texas governor should be moderated by the Whataburger voice guy.
  • Back in March of last year a made a post in which I stated that one Euro is worth $3 (USD).  Now one Euro is worth $1.22.  Europe is having a lot of debt issues as of late, so I expect the exchange rate to get closer in the next couple of months.
  • A Super Bowl held in any high possibility cold weather venue is a horrible idea.  The championship is should always be played in the most neutral and element free place possible to ensure that the best team truly wins and no team can blame a loss on something that is uncontrollable.  But when it comes to the regular season, that’s a different story.
  • WifeGeeding went back to the doctor yesterday and her blood pressure is better but still high, so she’s still on bedrest and we may induce come this Tuesday.  But there’s a 10% chance she could go into labor this week.
  • LOST talk: One of my friends had the great idea that a series of books on the adventures of Hurley and Ben should be published.
  • More LOST talk: If you are in Hawaii and want to take a tour of the filming locations, it will cost ya about $140.  I would be all over this.
  • The oil leak in the Gulf really frustrates me, it’s been leaking for over a month.  As I said before, the focus should have been on plugging it up rather than trying to capture it.
  • Letterman had some professor from LSU on about the oil leak the other night, and he said if left untouched, it would continue to leak at that rate for about a lifetime, so I guess that’s like 70 years.
  • I’m not happy with how BP has mislead the public, especially at the beginning with all their underestimatation (yes, I know that’s not a word, but sometimes it’s fun to make up words, ya know).  Their low estimates caused feet to drag.  It all kind of reminds me of troops in Vietnam reporting false numbers to make things look better than they appeared.
  • Part of me thinks the Obama Administration should be taking a more active role in this disaster, but can you imagine if the administration did take much more control of the situation before any outcry?  All you would hear is how Obama wants to control everything with big government with his socialist agenda and that we are using tax dollars instead of BP dollars.
  • I wonder were all the contaminated sand and other things end up?  Landfill?
  • Too bad Superman isn’t around.  He would tie up that leaking pip into a knot and then spin so fast creating some kind of vortex that would separate the oil from the water and be able to deposit it into some kind of tanker.

I remember noticing the changed sign in Back to the Future on my 3rd or 4th viewing and being amazed that they would go through the trouble to put something in the movie that most people would never even notice. It's like an inside joke for people who are paying close attention. And since we're on the subject of Back to the Future, I'm still hoping for BTTF4. I know it'll never happen but we weren't expecting a new Indiana Jones sequel either and yet somehow all the stars dollar signs aligned and there it was.

  2. The first time I saw the "G" guy I thought it was you, but when I paused, it was clearly not. Sorry, but it would have been fun.

I thought the same about Lee DeWyze. I thought you only cover old songs. And, I prefer U2's version of the song. Maybe the producers don't think he has a chance in winning so they made that decision?

Travel to Europe is getting more affordable by the hour.

I read in the WSJ the other day that the European Union calculates that in 40 years there will be 1.3 workers for every retiree. They retire at 50 and maintain a birthrate that is well below replacement. Their situation is hopeless unless they make major changes, which they are not willing to make.

The worst part of any disaster or scandal is the cover-up. BP should have known that low-balling the extent of the spill would eventually come out. An expert calculated that the spill will equal the Exxon Valdez this week if you use the real numbers.

In a panic, it’s natural for people to want the government to take over but I think the expertise still lies with the oil industry and not with the government. It’s strange to see Gov. Jindal screaming for the government to takeover.

It's not quite as bad as that. You actually said that a 2 Euro coin was worth $3. That was about the worst it ever got – I think $1.58 to 1 Euro was the weakest. It's still a big change, though. I went over in 2000 and it was only $0.88 to one Euro!

btw, I never noticed that about BTTF either, but IMDB has an explanation .

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: At the beginning of the movie the name of the mall was Twin Pine Mall. When Marty arrives back to 1985, the sign at the entrance of the mall parking lot reads Lone Pine Mall. This is due to the fact that Marty knocked down one of the twin pines when he crashed into it when arriving back in 1955. Therefore, when history is changed because of this, there's only one pine tree on the spot where the mall is built, making it The Lone Pine Mall.
