Bag of Randomness

  • My apologies to any of you that received an odd email from me on Friday, somehow one of my emails hot hacked.  Basically, everyone I had listed as a contact was sent an email with a blank subject line and a link to some spam website, but the link sent out was different to each person as I found out.   Stranger, when I looked at my Sent folder, there’s no record of anything being sent.  My password, which I thought was pretty strong with letters and numbers, has now been updated.
  • I attended a university workshop on Friday evening and was surprised to be awarded with a five year service pin – man, time flies.  Heck, it’s still a surprise that they have actually kept me around.
  • In that workshop I learned that on average, it takes a student an hour to read ten pages.  Of course that varies regarding how technical that book may be.
  • There was also a lot of emphasis placed on us making sure that as a Christian university we make an effort to integrate our faith in our teaching, when applicable, of course.
  • I wonder how many of my former students keep up with me via this blog.
  • The morning of the workshop, I wore shorts to work and brought dress clothes for the evening, only to find out when I changed clothes that my pants were really tight and I ended up having to buy a new pair on route.  Que Rocky workout music.
  • Or I can try to fit into my wife’s maternity pants.
  • I actually wore the pants out of the store as I paid for them, the clerk said this sort of thing happens often.
  • WifeGeeding and I got a lot accomplished this weekend, working on the nursery and cleaning and organizing.  We had a room worked on earlier where the floor was no longer level, unfortunately there is still a bit of a lean in the room.
  • We are using the baby crib that WifeGeeding actually slept in way back when, and I spent some time painting and assembling.  I’m still working on the assembling.
  • I did wake up early enough to watch the Texas Stadium implosion.  It was a bit more emotional for me than I thought, I guess it’s just a place for a lot of father and son memories not to mention I drive by it everyday on the way to work.
  • I live 15 miles north of the stadium and after about a minute or so after we saw the charges go off on television, we actually heard them from inside our bedroom – it was that loud, no kidding.
  • I want to call false advertising on CBS 11.  If you look at the post immediately under this one, you will see a screen print I took of their website that indicates different camera angels they were going to provide of the implosion, two of which are located inside the stadium.  But if you look at what was actually recorded, there were no cameras in the stadium, which is a major disappointment to me.  I figured somehow there there be a camera in the middle of that hole in the roof on the ground streaming video of the stadium coming down from the inside.
  • I was a bit surprised that Chris Berman was there, I wonder if that was because he was paid to me an MC or if he just wanted to be there. And I was surprised that Jerry actually showed up, tears and all.
  • I broke my beloved Palm Pre over the weekend, a result of leaving it in my pocket while working laying on the ground.  Blerg.
  • I noticed that PayPal never refunded the money into my bank account for that unauthorized transaction, so I decided to log into my PayPal account to see what’s the hold up. Turn out they just put the $199.99 in my PayPal account, and I was left to transfer it the my bank account all on my own.
  • WifeGeeding and I heard good things about Twisted Root, so we decided to give them a visit, but their burgers have just too much pepper in them.
  • Andy Rooney had an interesting commentary last night, it was one of those that if someone was writing a script, he would die this week.
  • This shirt from Woot! with Superman and Wonder Woman cracked me up.
  • What a Spider Man movie with James Cameron would have looked like.
  • Harrison Ford
  • Chris Rock gives Letterman a hard time about his women problems
  • Rest in peace, Julia Sugarbaker.

I dislike how when PayPal gets your money back for you and its up to you to put it back in your bank account. Plus they charge a fee for you to put your own money back. =/

Why do humans cheer when they see things exploding?

    1. I would have offered you $10 to show up at your workshop in the maternity pants.
    2. I saw footage from the interior cams in the stadium on WFAA at 10 last night. The footage cut out right as the structure started falling, so it was pretty anti-climactic.
    3. Berman was a paid MC. It was in the press releases put out in reference to the Kraft sponsorship.
