Bag of Randomness

  • I just found out that Wyatt Cenac of The Daily Show is from Dallas.
  • I got  my new credit card statements in the mail recently and I absolutely love the new required minimum payment verbiage.  Thank goodness my balances are zero, I’m not exactly sure why they sent me zero balance statements, but my guess is they were required to regarding new legislation.
  • That Christian warrior militia news is deeply concerning, and combine that with the Catholic priests sexual abuse allegations it’s a wonder why so many people are skeptical of the church.
  • In case you aren’t aware of that Christian warrior militia group, they wanted to kill a cop, and then at the funeral, attack the law enforcement in attendance.
  • Blessed are the peacemakers.
  • The Baylor women did something the Baylor men could not, beat Duke.  Good for them.
  • If there is an end to Saturday mail, I wonder how that will affect all you Netflix customers.  Part of me thinks not too much as I’m seeing the marking going towards more online/streaming delivery via some sort of setbox device or what’s already available on some Blu-ray players.
  • I can’t figure out if our local news should be ashamed of not getting the Erykah Badu story first.  Part of me thinks, of course they should be ashamed that the national news beat them to this story, which happened on St Patrick’s Day.  But then part of me thinks that a lot of nuts appear at Dealey Plaza.
  • Ricky Marin is gay.  The last time I was this surprised when a celebrity came out it was Rosie.
  • I keep meaning to watch Castle but I’m usually too busy blogging, but it seems like a sexed up Murder She Wrote.
  • I’m a little tired of all my Monday shows (House, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Therory) being repeats.
  • I just discovered a Smurfs movie is coming out in 2011, and there are some big name voices attached to it such as Quentin Tarantino,  Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, and others.
  • In honor of the Canadian hockey gold medal, you can buy one heck of an ax called The National.
  • The anticipation of a three day weekend makes for a a long work week.

I just started using the Netflix streaming this weekend. I stream it to my laptop and then use an HDMI out connection to put it on the TV. The picture is really good and except for an occasional hiccup, it's hard to distinguish it from Blu-ray. Highly recommend it.

No charges for Erykah Badu, I am really surprised. I am also surprised the cops did not get any calls.

We use Netflix, receiving 3-4 movies in the mail each month and streaming lots of kids' programming. I'm not too concerned about the loss of Saturday mail service. If it helps the USPS stay afloat, more power to them.
