Bag of Randomness

  • Wow, it’s already the 25th.  It seems like February just flew by.
  • I got an email from a close friend who got a sudden job offer to work in Washington D.C.  He lives here in Texas, sent the acceptance letter back yesterday, and will be driving up there next week.  It must be cool to do things  spontaneously.
  • Sometimes when I watch the Olympics I sit and wonder what sport I could possible compete in if I worked really hard at it, or started working really hard on it way back when in my life.
  • It’s time for me to replace the air filter on our new AC unit, but Loew’s and Home Depot did not have the filter in stock, heck, they couldn’t even special order it, so I was left finding them online.
  • Lindsey Vonn comes across a little scripted with a dash of false sincerity and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her as a contestant on the next Dancing With the Stars.  There’s no telling if her injury will keep her off the show.
  • The other night Craig Ferguson did a little experiment and at the same time paid tribute to the former host of the Late Late Show, Tom Snyder, but not having a studio audience and just having one guest.  I wish Jon Stewart would have that format with his guests.
  • I really enjoy watching curling.  No, really, I do.  So much so I would consider checking out the DFW Curling Club.

I heard on ESPN this morning that Vonn and Mancuso are not exactly friends given all the attention Vonn receives when medaling and the little attention paid to Mancuso when she medals. David is right about bobsledding. I was watching the women's event last night and the pushers all seemed to be women college track stars who were recruited soley for their power in the push-off. Incidently, there were some spectacular crashes last night, including one involving the German team in which the pusher was "ejected" from the sled and slid down the track on her back at @ 50 mph. I've watched as many curling events as I could and tivoed the rest. I find it relaxing and was surprised that they run 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Actually, they were longer than that but NBC sometimes did not show the first 4 to 6 stones thrown. If you watched the USA events you probably noticed that there is a great deal of controversy surrounding our mens' and womens' programs and their abject failure in the games: sounds huge changes will be made for 2014. That means opportunity for you, Keith

Your olympic sport? Bob Sled. You work on your sprinting real hard and then join the team as a pusher. A quick sprint and then you are just along for the ride.

I did not enjoy Lindsey Vonn talking to Stephen Colbert, she seemed a little "airheaded." This is just my opinion.
I would love to watch Jon Stewart and Bill Maher do a politicial show together.

Wow! A curling club in Dallas! If only I lived closer… My boys and I have enjoyed watching it on USA the last two weeks.
