I tried to do a version of this twice and failed each time. I don't know why I can dedicated myself to reading bag of nothing but when it came to the scriptures that were sent to email daily, I did not read them all.
Sharon, I had this problem as well. My solution was to quit trying to read it in 1 year and instead read it in 90 days. I read Gen – Rev in a 90 day period and actually found it much easier. Part of the reason for me is that when reading in a year, when you miss a day, you can make it up easy. So you miss a day..and then two…and then a week…and all the sudden you feel defeated. Reading it in 90 days took me about an hour per day. I knew that if I missed a day it would be very hard to make it up.
One note, my 'schedule' was actually for 87 days. This built in 3 off days 'just in case'. I have heard of others doing the same thing but taking all Sundays off. That means more reading per day, but it gives you a cushion.
Anyway, that was my experience.
I accepted a challenge from a long time friend to read the entire Bible in 2010. I've tried this before, but didn't make it past February!!! This time I am reading from The Daily Bible in Chronological Order. It's great! Give some interesting info along w/ the scripture.
