Bag of Randomness

  • I’ve always wondered why the city of Arlington didn’t have a light rail system to get people from theme park to them park to stadium to stadium, and then it hit me, the light rail would only benefit the people, not city or the businesses.  Imagine all the revenue that Six Flags ($20 a car?), the Rangers, and that other team would lose if they didn’t charge for parking.  And it wasn’t until yesterday that I learned the people who own private property in the area and charges for parking needs a permit.  If they don’t they can get fined up to $120,000.
  • Even though Apple is great at revolutionizing and building up suspense for a new product release, I think they have finally jumped the shark.
  • I think the iPad will fail, not only because of the craziness of the product name, but it really isn’t that revolutionary.  It’s simply a big iTouch.  And it doesn’t support Flash, as was very evident when Steve Jobs went to the NY Times website and he and the whole crowd saw a huge honking missing app question mark on the front page.
  • Having iTouch and iPad in one sentence is a little awkward.
  • I watched the Oprah/Leno interview.  I thought Oprah asked just about everything I wanted to know, and then some.  It was interesting hearing Leno’s side of the story, but he came across as a bit cold to me.
  • If you were a Saved By The Bell fan you always noticed that the name Peter Engel, who was the executive producer.  I recently discovered he is now a dean at Regent University, the university founded by televangelist Pat Robertson.

  • Ferrari is going to make a hybrid
  • In case you are going to visit the National Archives anytime soon, don’t bring a camera.
  • Six Magical Creatures That Look Like Taylor Swift
  • Little did I know, but Miramax has closed its doors.
  • Horrific : Haiti Orphans Targeted by Child Traffickers
  • An interesting read and recap of the Leno/Letterman feud – and I love the YouTube clip in that post where Carson makes a surprise visit to Letterman’s show.
  • With all that has been going on with all the late night hosts, I find it interesting that the movie about the Leno/Letterman feud isn’t airing anywhere on television, but it is on backorder at Best Buy.  But if you really wanted to watch it now, you can do so on YouTube.
  • And since I’m in a Carson kinda mood, here’s his last ever interview.

Don't get the wrong idea, I am not offended by your opinion … it is after all your opinion. I just feel that you were a little bit dismissive. I used to be that way about mac products … I used to spend thousands on PC's and would still find myself having to run every virus scan known to man to keep it up and running … and it would still fall to pieces in no time. The experience that I have had with apple products has been nothing but wonderful. I was worried that it would take time to learn a new operating system … but within a couple of days I had more or less gotten it all down. I digress to the point. I find your thoughts on the iPad to be completely misguided. For the money you pay for a new Kindle DX … you essentially get a little grayscale screen that can really only read and download books. While you can pay 10 dollars more, and get essentially a full color experience with an e-book, the ability to browse the web, as well as watch television and film on the same device. If you are to look at the market and what it has to offer, there is nothing better than the iPad. Given the sales figures that apple has been posting as of late, I highly doubt that the iPad is really going to fail. It is a niche product, but it easily destroys any other offering in said niche. While it may not have flash compatibility, most of us only use flash when we want to watch a youtube video … which is perfectly supported. I think perhaps in the future, instead of obviously showing your distaste with mac products, you may want to put on the blinders and look at the statistics rather than the label. There are certainly people that buy macs because they think its the cool thing to do, but personally, everyone I know buys them because they work every single time they turn them on.
