One down side about this time of year is that the radio personalities I like to listen to on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket are usually on vacation, right when all the important Cowboys games are being played. But because they are off on a well deserved vacation, they get the lesson known hosts more air time. One of the hosts always invites his father and some other older men, probably in their 70’s and 80’s to sit around and talk sports and what it was like back in the day. I think the segment is called “The Oldtimers Roundtable” and it’s always a joy to listen to. Maybe it’s because I no longer have the opportunity to hear things from my dad regarding to “how things were,” or maybe I just really enjoy the whole concept of reminiscing, but either way, if you have some free time Thursday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm it might be worth listening. You can just hear how much the host enjoys having his father on the show, and you can almost hear it in his voice that he knows this opportunity isn’t going to present itself for much longer and they are treasuring what they can.
