Bag of Randomness

  • Speaking to a joint session of Congress and the nation must be one heck of a feeling ranging from honor to nervousness to everything in between.
  • Hillary sure was standing out in the red pant suit.
  • Obama has now spoken from the House chamber twice, and neither speech was a State of the Union.  I wonder if that has ever been done before by a president. The first speech in the house chamber wasn’t a State of the Union, but more of an address to Congress and the nation.  I actually sent a tweet to George Stephanopoulos to see if he could track down an answer to that question.
  • Who the heck was that congressman or senator that brought that silly looking sign to last night’s speech?  It looked very immature and behavior like that belongs at a football game, not a presidential address to a joint session of congress.  And the same goes for the person that yelled, “That’s a lie.”
  • My hair is getting long, I can’t decide if I want to cut it or grow it out again.
  • Every NFL is undefeated right now.
  • That will change after tonight.
  • Hopefully this will be one heck of an NFL season.
  • Apple must be happy to have Steve Jobs in the spotlight again.
  • There’s a hidden message in this Bag of Randomness which is a big hint to a particular television show.  Other than the posts today, I will not post again until someone is able to identify that hint and gives me the name of that show.
  • So you want a hint?  OK . . . the show was in the 80’s.
  • Most of you know the words to the beginning of it’s theme song.
  • I wonder if anyone can solve this before noon.
  • Little did I know that at work out team outing was a showing of The Princess Bride.  I think that was the first time I watched that movie all the way through.  And I still can’t believe my wife doesn’t like that movie.
  • Everyday we should try to do something to make a difference in someone’s life.

The president's speech was as triumphant as the Republican's heckling was foul.

  3. Yeah, Keith…that one was a little too easy.

On that note, isn't it sad that the theme song of a show is kind of a dying thing? As the shows try to squeeze more "show" into their time slot, the theme song opening has kind of died off. I miss seeing Balky and Cousin Larry running around Chicago, and the Tanner family driving around San Francisco, and the whole intro thing where the actor is doing something, stops and smiles at the camera, like "Oh, you got me!". Those were great!

You're right, it was kinda easy. But man, you make some great observations about TV theme show songs. A lot of those opening credits were great, but I do have to admit I grew tired of some of them because of the lack of creativity.

Out of current TV show them songs, I think How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory are probably the best ones out there.

I'm probably the only person of my generation to have never seen an episode of Freaks and Geeks.
