My HP saga continues. In an email they asked the best time to contact me, and I said any time after 5:00 PM. However, they called me at 8:00 AM the next morning. No big deal, but I thought that was interesting. The manager that called me was exceptionally professional, but still couldn’t get my serial number to work. Long story short, they are sending me a box to ship the laptop in and will replace the motherboard at no cost. Anything beyond the motherboard may cost me some money. Developing . . .
I live next to the Sam Rayburn Memorial Highway. One item I didn’t know about the former Speaker of the House, per Wikipedia – he died with only $15,000 left in his personal savings, most of which were holdings in his family ranch.
I found this discussion a bit interesting – If former Miss California Carrie Prejean believes it was God’s plan for her to lose the Miss USA pageant and her later her “materialistic” crown as Miss California – then why sue?
I’ve read a lot of interesting commentary regarding the new NIV Bible that will arrive in 2011. If you missed the post yesterday, the NIV Bible is going to be updated to a more current and correct translation. There’s a lot of fear the “inclusive language,” that is, making it more gender neutral. For instance, instead of saying “sons of God” you will see something like “children of god.” Some of the commentary ranged from how many women will take part in this task, to the amount of people from one denomination and section/region of the country (in other words, Evangelicals in the Bible Belt). Along with that, take into consideration the umber of people who say they believe the Bible is the actual word of God verses the number of people who how say the Bible is the inspired word of God but should not take everything in it literally. Interesting food for thought.

It’s amazing how many local school districts will not broadcast the president’s address to school children, and it’s amazing the number of parents that will keep their children home that day to avoid his message. The president plans on speaking about “the importance of persisting and succeeding in school.” That topic certainly sounds like something everyone can agree on, but some people just want to whine.
And yes, if I was a parent when Bush was president and he wanted to address our school children, I wouldn’t have a problem with it, even if I highly disagreed with his policies. Heck, even if Sarah Palin was president I wouldn’t have a problem with it. If anything, it should be an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to engage in discussion. There’s nothing wrong with a president wanting to engage with students.
And if a president would visit a school in person, whether Republican or Democrat, there’s no way I would rob my child of that experience.
Political differences aside, each party loves this country. I don’t understand why some people can’t get past that, and understand that not every message has a political agenda. It’s a darn shame that a president wants to engage with the youth of America and for there to be such a ruckus. Now that I think about it, it’s a darn shame no other president has taken the time to directly address the school children of this great land.
For the most part, I feel like I can rationally understand an opposing view. But this one boggles me.
I fear that the political divide in this country will only get worst. It seems I see signs of that everyday. I fear that before the end of my life, the United States will no longer be united.

I would say about 99% of all Nintendo game users of the 80’s know this code. If we had all the facts about Iraq back in 2002, I wonder what town hall meetings would have been like if we had debated about the decision to go into Iraq. I wonder how the debate would have gone if we had to use draftees?
