Bag of Randomness

  • WifeGeeding recently passed a certification test, and I took her out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate.  Lent has really done a number on me, I’m just not impressed eating out anymore.
  • You now have the ability to book a flight to Mexico on Southwest.com.  You can read more about it here.  Rumor has it that the QA lead that helped implement that is one sexy and intelligent half-Asian dude.  Well, that’s what I hear.
  • The Texas Rangers has someone named Taylor Teagarden, talk about one sissy sounding name.  That name sounds like it would fit into a story about some artsy college age aristocrat attending Princeton.  But not the seminary at Princeton, of course.
  • I’m surprised the Cowboys didn’t shop any of this year’s draft picks for picks for next where, where the talent level appears to be stronger.  But then again, Jerry is running the draft.
  • Speaking of which, I was also surprised that the Cowboys drafted Texas A&M QB Stephen McGee.  I think Graham Harrell out of Texas Tech would have been better.
  • When I Googled “Cowboys draft” the second main result was a link to last year’s draft.  Weird.
  • I bet some arses got chewed, I mean really chewed out, for that silly photo-op shot over NYC yesterday.  You know, Photoshop not only is effective, but would have been a lot cheaper.
  • As a part-time instructor of finance and someone that spent a quarter of his life working for a financial giant, I still keep tabs on the market and do a little bit of analysis.  Yesterday was interesting with the early morning news of the swine flu.  The hospital or medical industry was up for the day, but the travel industry was down – hotels took a small hit, but the airlines took a bigger hit being down over 7% for the day.  With people wearing masks to protect them, do you think people feel real safe boarding a plane with self contained air?
  • I’m still debating on what to do with my extra U2 tickets.  I looked up the value for the section they are in on StubHub and they range in value from $125 – $2000.
  • WifeGeeding has a good memory, she remembers that last time U2 rolled through town I kept my tickets in a fireproof safe.
  • I really enjoyed House last night, and of course cracked watching The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.
  • That Michael Jackson Auction has some really interesting stuff.
  • Is Hitler a Mormon?
  • The Christian Book Expo was a flop last year only attracting 1500 visitors, about a tenth of what they expected.  It won’t be back next year.
  • Natalie Portman started a new website.
  • Did you know that the FireFox logo was inspired by an image in a children’s Bible?  Link And a little more about Daniel Burka and that logo.
  • The Bacone – A cone made of bacon with scrambled eggs on the inside topped with a biscuit and country gravy.
  • “But the little man gives the cross a certain flair.”  Link

  1. Rev. Hart says:

LOL. You'd be surprised how many "Taylor Teagardens" I know!
