Bag of Randomness

  • Even thought I didn’t do my Christmas Card Experiment this year, a few of you were nice enough to still send me a Christmas card.  One is particular brought a smile to my face as it said, “Keep on bagging . . .”
  • Maybe I should bring it back next year.  I guess I didn’t do it this year because I have a bit of a grinch attitude as of right now.  In past years, I kind of felt like I was giving the perception of beggin  my readers to send them to me, and that didn’t set well with me.
  • There is one thing I do like about this time of year, and that’s seeing NFL cheerleaders wear those Santa outfits.
  • I was only able to watch a portion of ESPN’s special on the Greatest Game Ever Played.  I thought they did a great job with it, and really like how they paired up current coaches and players with the guys that played in that game.  For instance, one of the current players asked the old timer about the goal post being on the goalline.  It turns out many tried to use it to there advantage, and if the ball was on the one, then the kicker wouldn’t be able to kick a field goal.  Too bad Johnny U died a few years back and couldn’t have been part of it, but I was surprised that Peyton Manning wasn’t on the special.
  • While watching that special, it was also interesting seeing how the players never celebrated anything.  For instance, on the game winning play, after Unitas handed the ball off to Ameche who scores to win the championship in overtime, you see Unitas walk away with his head down and arms to his side.

  • I’ve worked the last two Saturdays, I’m looking forward to some vacation time around Christmas.
  • The Survivor finale and the Cowboys game made for some tough TV watching.  I didn’t want to Tivo Survivor and watch the next day, because I know one way or another I would find out who won, so I decided to watch it live and watch the Cowboys game on the laptop.  I really enjoyed watching in my laptop as NBC allows you to watch more than one camera at one time and at different angles.

I ran the White Rock Marathon in 2004. The Dolly Partons are a couple of hills near White Rock Lake that are about equal in size. A number of guys dress in Dolly Parton drag and hand out cups of beer to the runners.

If you are not warned about it ahead of time you think you are hallucinating…
