You know, I wonder where all of this “we are all one” talk has been for the last 8 years. The rhetoric from the “52” was generally terrible (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122584386627599251.html). Now granted, that from the other side was not much (if any) better, but all of this now that “we won” you should pull together with us is rather hypocritical (and I don’t give a flying flip what the socialist in France think).

I will support my president, but I will speak out strongly if he does something that I feel violates my morals and/or puts my country at risk. I did this with the current admin as well. I will not be quiet just to appease “the winning side”. I hope that after 4/8 years of Obama my friends will be able to say that anytime I disagreed with him and/or his admin I spoke out with dignity and class rather than calling names like a child. I have heard way too much of that over the last 8.

    David,

Country unity was dissolved the moment George Bush said “you’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists.” I remember, in that moment, thinking that I didn’t totally agree with what he was proposing. And so, my president had just told me that because of my ideas I was “with the terrorists.”

Barack has invited the opposing political voice into his governance, saying he’ll listen to them. He hasn’t demonized them.

So, that’s why people are now talking about unity. It wasn’t possible until this moment.

    Rev Hart –
I am not talking about Unity. Disagreeing with someone…or even being pissed out them does not excuse the behavior that has been coming from the ‘other side’ the last 8 years. I would expect someone to stand up and disagree with the ‘with us or against us’ statement. That is fair. How you disagree is the issue.

My point is that for the most part you did not hear people disagreeing with this admins policies and positions civilly. You heard people calling the president an idiot. THAT my friend is behaving like undisciplined children on a playground (imagine hearing Michael Moore calling someone a doo doo head…it is the same level of maturity).

So, my point is that I hope to act civilly if/when I disagree with the policies of this admin (shame on me if I do not). I only wish Hollywood and those that voted for Obama would have have shown the same courtesy over the last 8 years (yes that is a generalization, but you get my point).

And before anyone mentions how Rush, Hannity or anyone else behaved, remember that our mothers tried to teach us that someone else’s bad behavior does not justify ours. So just because those guys acted like children does not justify the likes of Michael Moore, Al Franken, etc. And, Moore and Franken’s behavior does not justify Rush, Hannity, etc.

In closing, I hope to never disagree with Obama’s policies…but I doubt if that is realistic. But when I do, I truly hope those around me will be able to say that I behaved honorably.

And as Forrest Gump said, “that’s all I’ve got to say about that”.
