Fun with brands – Jane’s Brand-timeline Portrait
All that talk about brand perception got me thinking about how affect our daily lives. Have you ever thought about how many brands you use in a typical day? Well I did and created a visual representation of my Typical Friday in Brands. I have to admit that I was pretty surprised at how at how big this thing got once I started working on it. I am also surprised at how much this reveals about me …

I love grapes
But this story will make me look twice everytime I buy a bag.Â
A tarantula was spotted lurking in a bunch of grapes – as a father prepared to give them to his four-year-old boy.
Kevin Hudson, 40, of Elmswell, Suffolk, found the spider in the grapes he had bought at Asda, in nearby Stowmarket, as he washed them for son Rhys.
He caught the 2.5in (5cm) creature and took it to his local vet and it is now being housed at a local reptile centre.
There’s a nice little video with the article. Also, I was surprised at how small the tarantula was.

Lost parrot tells veterinarian his address
TOKYO – When Yosuke the parrot flew out of his cage and got lost, he did exactly what he had been taught — recite his name and address to a stranger willing to help.
Police rescued the African grey parrot two weeks ago from a neighbor’s roof in the city of Nagareyama, near Tokyo. After spending a night at the station, he was transferred to a nearby veterinary hospital while police searched for clues, local policeman Shinjiro Uemura said.
He kept mum with the cops, but began chatting after a few days with the vet.
“I’m Mr. Yosuke Nakamura,” the bird told the veterinarian, according to Uemura. The parrot also provided his full home address, down to the street number, and even entertained the hospital staff by singing songs.
“We checked the address, and what do you know, a Nakamura family really lived there. So we told them we’ve found Yosuke,” Uemura said.
The Nakamura family told police they had been teaching the bird its name and address for about two years.
But Yosuke apparently wasn’t keen on opening up to police officials.
“I tried to be friendly and talked to him, but he completely ignored me,” Uemura said.

I wonder if WifeGeeding still has the first mix CD I made for her?
Portion Distortion
Anyone eating on the run or at restaurants has probably noticed that food portions have gotten larger. Some portions are called “super size,” while others have simply grown in size and provide enough food for at least two people. With this growth have come increases in waistlines and body weight.
To see if you know how today’s portions compare to the portions available 20 years ago, quiz yourself on Portion Distortion I (2003) and Portion Distortion II (2004). You will also learn about the amount of physical activity required to burn off the extra calories provided by today’s portions.

I’m trying to find a way to stay in the church I love, while becoming the woman I was born to be.
Talk about a bad day

Little or No Blogging Today
Sorry for the lack of posts today. I had to teach a class last night and I’m doing my best to finish my last week of work at Fidelity on a very strong note so my coworkers friends will be left on good standing as my projects are handed off to them.
Speaking of teaching last night, I received an email yesterday afternoon from the university director. She said she needed to speak with me. My first thought was that she found out I had a blog and didn’t like something I had posted or something, but then again I remember listing her as the person I reported to on some paperwork I had to fill out on a background check. I replied back to her email that I was teaching later that night and would stop by her office.
I was pretty nervous as I entered her office, but it turns out I shouldn’t have been. She just wanted to promote me from an adjunct instructor to lead instructor with the understanding that I attend a lunch time seminar, which happens to be next week, which I’m taking off before I start my new full time job.  Timing couldn’t have worked out any better. Good times.
