Prestonwood Baptist Goes Green and Saves Cash

For those of you that aren’t in the DFW area, Prestonwood Baptist is one of the mega churches in the area with a membership of about 26,000.  (Fact Sheet .pdf).  I grew up in a town of only 19,000.

It’s monthly utility bill was about $250,000.  Yikes!

So what happens when they turn lights and computers off when not in use, change to energy efficient light bulbs, adjust the thermostat, and take other means of energy conservation?

Turns out 7 months into their energy conservation program the church has saved over half a million dollars.
