Momma not so smart

Let ARE kids walk?

Fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess.

It’s all about the TAKS test.  If graduating seniors don’t pass it, some schools don’t allow them to walk for graduation.

The TAKS being used as a criteria for graduation is wrong, in my opinion. As a pretest, or a diagnostic tool, to be used to aid in preparation for that which is taught, it might be helpful. But, when a person has completed 12 years of public schooll and has maintained a passing grade average and has earned the required number of credits, he should be awarded his diploma.
Now………if schools have in their policy that passing the TAKS is a prerequisite for graduation, then the students who fail it do not graduate! Very simple! If a policy is important enough to make, then it is important enough to enforce.
Seems to me some educating of parents as to the policies of the school are in order.
