A Few BON News and Notes

I’m sure some of you have noticed that there is no longer a link to the other pages of this website.  In particular, the Half-Asian Hall of Fame, FAQ’s, and GeedingOlogy pages.  This is because there was a software upgrade I installed.  For some reason, the upgrade isn’t completely compatable with the ‘theme’ or layout I’m using, and you can only see the home page.

So I’m presented with a several options.

I can stick with the upgrade and try to fix it myself, but I don’t have much faith that I can fix it where you can find the other pages.  But then again, I don’t think many folks visit those pages anyways.

I can try to reinstall the old blogging software that had a few bugs, but those bugs were things I encounter when publishing – it’s stuff y’all wouldn’t notice.  Only a few of the past posts with videos would be affected.

I can try to find a new ‘theme’ or layout that is compatable with the upgrade.  If I do that, then I have to do some additional coding so my U2 Random Lyric and Current Poll features appear.

Also, I’m considering changing the way that I post.  I think I average roughly 15-22 posts a day.   Most of the time, the majority of those posts appear first thing in the morning.  I have a feeling that is a lot of reading for everyone first thing in the morning, and I’m told that some folks like checking back later in the day for updates.  So I’m thinking I’ll make about 5 posts first thing in the morning, then I’ll schedule about three posts to appear every hour up to about 3 or 4 o’clock central standard time.

Your thoughts about the upgrade or posting change are welcomed.

It’s YOUR web site……….do as you wish. I do look at BON early in a.m. and then later on in the day. Your idea about staggering posts is good.

I’m a big fan of posts throughout the day. I need procrastination help throughout the day, please! Staggered posting = far better procrastination. Thanks! As per formatting, I know nothing… so you’re on your own for that…

I agree… do what you want. But I like everything there early in the AM. I didn’t even know you added throughout the day.. I miss out on alot!

hey keith. staggering the posts would bring more visits (not necessarily visitors) to the site. people would check more than once per day, checking for updates.

regarding the design, i think you could check out some other themes… there are some really nice looking ones out there. the current one is great and works really well, but if you keep the updated version and want to explore a new theme, that might be fun too. i liked to update my blog design every once in a while when i blogged. man, i want to get back into blogging again…

    peace.

I have, on slow days visited the Geedingology. I hope that there is some solution in the future so that newbs can come to know more about you as they view the blog.

I visit the site as my work day allows so I don’t mind several posts throughout the day. But understand this. It’s a very cool diversion. Please never feel as if you are doing this for us. Do what makes Keith happy. The last thing I want is for you to feel like your creating a product and become chained to a big job. Have fun and do what is best for you. That way, we will be enjoying it for hopefully years to come.

PS. Go Wade Phillips! (who’s dad coached at my Junior High many years before I showed up).

  8. Keep the hahf and geedingology. It’s gutsy to reveal who you are to your audience, even if it’s not read that often. Lose the country music statement.

    imho

Well, if you access it from the other side of the world, you get to check in in between days and you get the best of both worlds!

    Blog on my man….blog on.
