India to become ‘open defecation free’ by 2012
New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Come 2012 and it will be rare to see people defecating in the open in India. So claims Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who went on to say that the country was set to achieve ‘open-defecation free’ status under the government’s Total Sanitation Programme (TSC). Link

ET College basketball fans may have been surprised to turn on their computers Monday morning and find an e-mail from Amazon.com Inc. proclaiming, “UCLA Wins.” The online retailer mistakenly sent the e-mail to customers ahead of the NCAA championship game Monday night between the Florida Gators and the UCLA Bruins. Loyal” donkeys better than wives, says textbook
NEW DELHI (Reuters) – A textbook used at schools in the Indian state of Rajasthan compares housewives to donkeys, and suggests the animals make better companions as they complain less and are more loyal to their “masters,” The Times of India reported Tuesday.
“A donkey is like a housewife … In fact, the donkey is a shade better, for while the housewife may sometimes complain and walk off to her parents’ home, you’ll never catch the donkey being disloyal to his master,” the newspaper reported, quoting a Hindi-language primer meant for 14-year-olds. Link

Steroids got the best of Barry Bonds, now they are getting the best of hamsters
If you put a hamster on steroids, he’ll attack other hamsters more quickly and more often, and bite a lot. Cut him off and you might think he’d mellow out.
Not so. Hamsters on steroids remain aggressive into adulthood, according to a new study that offers yet another caution to teens who might try to bulk up artificially.
The hamsters started out tame. Then they were put on anabolic steroids and, as studies have shown with teens, the rodents exhibited “very high levels” of aggression, said study leader Richard Melloni, Jr. of Northeastern University.
Long after the more than 100 hamsters were taken off the steroids, the aggressive tendencies, or “‘roid rage” as scientists put it, remained in 85 percent of them.Link
